Congratulations to Amber Doremus and Rachel Olson, this year's Crystal Apple Award recipients!
Amber Doremus is a 6th Grade Teacher at Weston Middle School and has worked in the district for 14 years. Amber is always improving her teaching by attending trainings whenever possible and is a positive and passionate math team leader. Her leadership has helped reinvigorate science instruction, and Amber works tirelessly to develop critical thinking skills in her students. Through her P.E. teaching, she is an excellent role model to young women in the area of health and fitness. Also the instructional technology leader and girls’ varsity basketball coach, Amber “fulfills a multitude of roles within the school and district with enthusiasm, thoughtfulness and excellence.”
Rachael Olson is a 4th Grade Teacher at Weston Middle School and has worked for the Athena-Weston School District for eight years. Passionate about teaching math and science, she finds ways to make lessons interesting by integrating technology, interactive experiences and even music into her teaching. Rachael pioneered the use of the Eureka math curriculum and is a leader in instructional technology for the school. She seeks creative solutions and spends her energy on developing a positive learning environment in her classroom, where students are engaged in successful learning.
