CTE Month 2025
Weston-McEwen High School Student Spotlight
Meet Lyla Rogers, a Senior at Weston-McEwen High School
She takes classes in Food Science/Advanced Foods
What do you enjoy about your CTE classes at WMHS?
I enjoy cooking as it is, but I like getting to learn how to make new foods, working hands-on,
getting creative and working on my skills. This class gives me new experiences and gives me the
chance to solve problems and learn through trial-and error. I also like the people in the class,
they’re a lot of fun.
How are CTE classes making a difference in your education?
My CTE classes give me hands-on experiences and everyday skills -- and in a fun way. I get to try
all sorts of new things and get creative while doing it. CTE classes just feel like a break from
other schoolwork and classes sometimes; they are classes that I look forward to going to.
Would you like to share anything else about CTE at WMHS?
I think the CTE program is a great outlet and opportunity for our students. I also think the
experiences, skills, and access that it gives are very important.
