Four sport letterman in football, basketball, track and baseball earning 10 varsity letters
Active in FFA, played the trombone in band

Participated in district and regional speech contests
Selected as an alternate to Boys State
Graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelors degree in Agronomic Crop Science
Member of Sigma Nu Fraternity
Inducted onto the OSU Agriculture Honor Society
President of Oregon Wheat Growers League in 1993
Served as President of the Oregon Peas Growers Association
Little League and youth basketball coach, Sunday school teacher and youth ministry leader
Active in Athena Christian Church where he serves as an Elder
Is a lay Counselor with Good Samaritan Ministries and has been on numerous mission trips all over the world
In response to the devastating aftermath in Honduras of Hurricane Mitch in 1998, he organized a relief mission form our local area. He led a team that raised tons of food filling two semi-trucks for the Honduran people. It was so huge it had to be delivered by the US Military.
Married to Deborah in 1973 and has two children
