Charles Simpson 

  • well-known teacher, principal and superintendent at McEwen High School where he served for 24 years

  • this honoree is both a Beaver and a Duck

    • he graduated from Oregon State University with his bachelors degree in 1931

    • finished his post-graduate work at the University of Oregon

  • he was also a teacher, coach, principal and superintendent at Pilot Rock Schools for 15 years prior to moving to Athena

  • held the position of president for the Oregon Schools Athletic Association, Secondary Principals Association and County School Boards Association

  • has been an active member of the Oregon Education Association for 40 years

  • life member of the National Education Association and the Oregon Congress of Parents and Teachers

  • he also served 18 years on the Athena City Council
