The AWSD Atina Club members went on a field trip to learn the importance of drums within Native American culture.
Students learned the value of respecting every part of an animal and to treat all parts of nature with the utmost care. Additionally, students were taught to cherish and learn from their elders, and to pass down all that they learn to future generations. All students took a turn lacking the front and back of the drum together with rawhide, and all students signed their names on the inside of the drum.
We look forward to having another field trip to construct drum sticks as well as hand drums when funding allows.
