Athena Elementary School has been enjoying the perks of the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Grant.
The purpose of the FFVP is to make available free fresh fruits and vegetables to elementary school students which is directly related to the FFVP's three goals:
1) expanding the variety of fruits and vegetables school children experience,
2) increasing their consumption of fruits and vegetables, and
3) having a positive impact on their present and future health.
We have a success story: this student chose fresh sugar snap peas from the grocery store! Wanted to have the same item he tried at school!
