Inclement Weather Schedule for all Athena-Weston School Programs
Distance Learning for All with No In-Person Instruction
In the past we have included “Snow Days” as “No School Days”. With distance learning, we will no longer have “No School-Snow Days”. On days where travel routes to schools are impacted, we will continue school through Distance Learning models. Students will be expected to complete work and/or attend virtually on these days.
*School delay or closure notifications are typically posted on the home page of this website by 6 a.m. Delay/closure information also is posted on the Athena-Weston School District’s Facebook page.
In addition, local media are contacted about delays/closures, including KUMA (92.1 fm or 1290 am), KTIX (1240 am), KWVX (107.7 fm), KWHT (103.5 fm), and KTEL (1490 am) radio, the East Oregonian and the Walla Walla Union Bulletin.
How Does the District Decide to Move to All Students Comprehensive Distance Learning with No On-Site instruction?
When the Athena-Weston School District makes the decision to move all students to Distance Learning during inclement weather conditions, the decision isn’t made lightly. It’s a team effort including transportation, school maintenance and community plant facilities. We cover a larger geographic area and conditions can be very different from the mountain down to the river region. Our goal is the safety of all students and their families as we consider safe transportation to and from schools.
