Last Friday, Weston-McEwen High School hosted a group of Native American dancers for Pow Wow Day. Merle Kirk, Indian Education Coordinator/Title VI for Pilot Rock and Athena - Weston School Districts, organized the youth dancers to perform from the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation (CTUIR). The assembly was hosted in the high school gymnasium and gathered the whole school together for the event. The dancers wore a variety of regalia, including beaded buckskin dresses, fancy dancer shawls, and a dentalium cape. Thank you, dancers and CTUIR!
